Director Rob Reiner knows all about making good films, and this is no exception. This is one of my favorite, if not my most favorite Michael Douglas film ever. He is amazing in this film. He and Annette Bening play off of one another so well, you almost think they really are in a relationship in real life. A positively enduring film, and good clean fun for the entire family to watch.
In this generation, we have never had a President that did not have a wife. It would be interesting to see how America would scrutinize their leader if he was a bachelor and became involved with someone while in Office. This film captures that and makes it seem real, and pretty close to what I think would happen.
But this is the movies and all things work out in the end. Star performances of Douglas and Bening as well as Michael J. Fox and Martin Sheen as Vice President. One of the best films of 1995. A
