Worst of 2006 ~ The Wicker Man ~ #5

10 Feb

The Wicker Man Synopsis: Sheriff Edward Malus (Nicholas Cage) investigates the disappearance of a young girl on a remote island off the coast of Maine. Things and people are not as they seem on the island and when Sheriff Malus discovers evidence of pagan rituals, his hope of unraveling the girl’s disappearance become increasingly uncertain. But instead what you get is a poor remake of a great movie. The original was a horror movie, this 2006 remake was just a joke. Nicholas cage has never, and will never be in my opinion a good movie star, he bounded onto the Hollywood scene on the coat-tails of his famous family (Coppala’s) and continues to make poor films. This one being one of his worst.

Why such stars as Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under); Acedemy Award winner, Ellen Burstyn and up and coming Lee Lee Sobriski would make such a movie like this is beyond me. The acting was poor, the directing was bad, and the filming was even worse. D
